Expanded Course Description
The past months have posed the most extraordinary challenges to visual journalists—and everyone else—the world over. Now, more than ever, accurate, accessible, and up-to-date information is a vitally precious commodity. And the thirst for such information has grown substantially as people try to make sense of the global upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Explore the essential principles that underpin the creation of high-quality visual journalism. This experience combines intensely practical sessions covering the skills and techniques necessary for producing broadcast-standard material with discussion and debate on the shifting tectonic plates in the industry, as well as the impact of the coronavirus crisis on journalism and journalists. You will hear from – and be able to question - leading figures from major TV and online news organizations. https://geo.uoregon.edu/programs/united-kingdom/visual-journalism
