Expanded Course Description
Problems in United States Politics examines current issues in American politics at the introductory level. No prior background in American politics or political science is required. A variety of topics are discussed, with the unifying theme of the course being the role of citizens in a democracy. Within the framework of this theme, the focus is on three issues in U.S. politics: (1) the nature, origins and importance of public opinion; (2) the nature and role of media coverage of U.S. politics; and (3) race and diversity in the U.S.
