Expanded Course Description
This class will explore many of the layers of government that affect the day-to-day lives of Americans. It will explore why we have state and local governments, and how changes with the federal government ? and its decision to give more control and responsibility in certain policies ? have affected the subnational governments. It also will study the structure of these governments, how we choose the leaders and policies, and what relationships we ? as taxpayers and voters ? have with these governments. To that end, the course will broaden our understanding of why we make the decisions we do in state and local governments and how those decisions influence our daily lives.
