  GEOG 250   Geo of Outdoor Advent >2 4.00 cr.
Introduces cultural geography by tracing the emergence and contemporary significance of outdoor adventure sports. Their global development since the late 1800s coincides with changing ideas about nature, wilderness, and the utility of play, and reflects modern social disparities and environmental challenges.

Expanded Course Description
The development of active recreation and outdoor sports reflects the development of modern societies and the transformation of natural and social landscapes. Using a geographical approach to examine the emergence and contemporary significance of outdoor adventure sports, students explore the cultural artifacts and physical landscapes surrounding these activities and collaboratively develop online collections of primary materials.
