Expanded Course Description
• The Self Study Language Program (SSLP) LT 199 courses are coordinated by the Yamada Language Center (YLC) (MCK 175). These classes are small groups of motivated students who work with talented and dedicated native speaking tutors. The emphasis in class is mostly on spoken language. Our tutors utilize a wide variety of authentic materials and realia to make the student’s experience a rich one both culturally and linguistically. The instruction time is 2hrs/week. All levels are welcome. Students can take the course for UO credit (1) and sign up for it through DuckWeb, or for non-credit, as a community member ($225/term). In the course schedule, there is no time and room assigned for most of these classes yet. Students are required to attend a mandatory orientation meeting during the first week of classes where they meet with their tutors and fellow students to decide on a time that works for everyone. The orientation meeting for every term is scheduled during the first week of classes on Wednesday from 5:30-6:45 pm at YLC in MCK 175. Please email the coordinator for more information.
