Expanded Course Description
This is the third term of a three term sequence. In this course we look at the development of fiction writing from the end of WWII up to the present. Through these works we examine Japan's miracle of recovery and consider some of the social and hman costs that entailed. We also look at themes of alienation and isolation, skepticism, nostalgia, and experimental works. In the process we will consider whether or not the concept of a national literature is any long valid.
