Expanded Course Description
This class explores late 20th century U.S. lesbian history, its erasure, its preservation, and its legacy. Using the Eugene Lesbian History Project and the Outliers and Outlaws project, we will learn about this model and other efforts to archive queer life-stories and to make them accessible through public-facing modalities such as digital exhibits, museum exhibits, walking tours, architectural registries, documentary films, and public health trainings. The course focuses on the “translation” of academic research to public history, queer activism, and “queer spaces.”
