Expanded Course Description
The course provides an introduction to international law, international institutions, and international legal processes. We will discuss the origins and development of international law, consider the main actors and sources of international law, and examine how international law is created, promoted, and applied to deal with critical issues facing the world today. In particular, we will examine the laws, institutions, and processes regulating the use of force, human rights, international economics, and the environment.
If class size permits, students will be divided into groups and expected to examine and report on international legal issues of current interest.
