Expanded Course Description
Discussions and reactions to literary and other controversial cultural expressions (journalism, visual arts, and film) of the early 20th century. The texts and art we discuss (dramas, poems, newspaper articles and critical manifestos) engage with social ideologies and hierarchies, sexual taboos, and the power and oppression of the masses in the fight for authenticity and freedom of the individual. As part of our work in class we will enliven historical controversial debates. This course will be taught in German. |
