Expanded Course Description
In-depth analysis of various facets of German cinema. Students will acquire a vocabulary of film analysis and learn how to interpret film from a historical and theoretical perspective. Topics include Weimar film, Cities and Modernity, German filmmakers in American exile, German New Wave. No knowledge of German required; readings and discussions in English.
