Expanded Course Description
This is an intermediate- to advanced-level course of Russian, designed for use in the third year college Russian program. It is aimed at further development of all four basic language skills: oral comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Special attention is given to developing reading comprehension, conversational competence, grammatical accuracy, and cultural sophistication. Thematically the course is adjusted to serve these goals; broad and variable vocabulary allows a personalized approach to each topic. The course introduces wide cultural material: customs, behaviors, interests, and traditions of Russian people. Each thematically section is supported by an abstract from a genuine Russian literary text and an educational movie illustrating a given cultural topic. Students will review and study more intensely those grammatical structures that are most troublesome for intermediate speakers of Russian. Kripkov.
